I am locked out right now. How fast can someone come?
Lockouts are the job locksmiths keep space for, so response is usually quick in the main centres. Say clearly that you are locked out and where you are, and that goes to them first.
Should I change the locks when I move in?
It is the usual advice, because you have no way of knowing how many keys exist. Rekeying is often cheaper than replacing the hardware and gives the same result.
Can a locksmith get into a car?
Many can, and some also cut and program modern transponder keys. Say the make, model and year in your request, because that decides who can actually help.
Will they need proof I live there?
Yes, and you want a locksmith who asks. Expect to show ID or something tying you to the address before they open the door.
